Further Drupal setup things

Some further things on setting up a drupal site:

First of all, install the journal plugin to track changes.

Here, I realize I am missing the module and theme upload modules that I had in my test site from the hosteurope APS install - they seem only to be contained in the Hosteurope stuff, and obviously made by a plesk developer, who did not write a licence (or any other single line of comment!!!) in his code.
So, I'm not gonna use them for now - anyway, the uploaders where incomplete - they should download stuff directly from the drupal site, not need a manual downlooad to the local disk!
And in general functionality as this seems to be considered dangerous anyway:
http://drupal.org/project/upload_package (right, I have to let the webserver user acces scripts and stuff...)

Modules are installed as explained here: http://drupal.org/node/70151 - in short, I have to put them into the directory sites/all/modules, which has to be created first.
Then it is available in the modules selection Home › Administer › Site building of the drupal system and can be enabled.

Then I enable all my modules that I tested - namely

  • blog

  • locale

  • content translation

  • path

  • contact

  • aggregator

And the backup/migrate module: http://drupal.org/project/backup_migrate

unfortunately, it's documentation does not tell about the usage:
http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/modules/backup_migrate/README.txt?revision=1.2

Hmm, it's at admin/content/backup_migrate... but only allows to select database tables - so I have to know which ones to select...

Maybe that is what I really need: http://drupal.org/project/node_export
After installing and enabling it on my master site, I can export a node's code in the node view.

And in admin/content/import I can import nodes. (hmm, the node's weight seems not to be imported...)

settings/language
-> enable German.

admin/content/types
-> enable translation for blog and others
admin/content/node-type/blog
-> workflow -> Multilingual-support
->Enabled, with translation

Then, language setting are imported as wanted.

Still, menu name and menu weight configuration is not imported.

...cool, i can even change the admin's username after creation...
